L'Estuaire Description
This was formally Nathan Outlaw's Black Pig, however, he moved on and it was taken over by Olivier and Emma Davoust-Zangari, who have seamlessly carried on what was already noticeably, especially given the attention from major guide books, a success.
They concentrate on exclusively French Style food and try whenever possible to source their ingredients and produce locally. Their lunchtime menus represent good value with either three courses at £23 offering such delights as puff pastry cheese ravioli with a cider vinaigrette salad, then their fish of the day with seasonal accompaniments and finishing with warm tarte tatin served with clotted cream and confit apple, or the terrace menu with dishes at between £8 to £10 such as tomato gazpacho with cucumber julienne and herbed goats cheese toast; melon with fresh and crispy Parma ham, ginger and tarragon vinaigrette port and red wine ice cream or tomato tart with herb roasted mackerel fillets and a mixed leaf salad.
In the evening Olivier really shows his paces with choices like pan-fried scallops with chilled aubergine caviar, fresh tomato and basil concassée or ballotine of duck foie gras cooked in sea salt with apple compote and fruit chutney to start with mains such as pan-fried fillet of sea bass with cockle butter sauce and braised fennel, green asparagus tips or honeyed duck breast with a celeriac purée, cumin carrots and a sweet and sour sauce.

What a superb little restaurant it is! The food is stunning with excellent ingredients and great ambience with unobtrusive but top notch, friendly service. It was the definite highlight of our weekend and it was difficult to fault it as it was an outstanding night.

Lunch in this restaurant was the highlight of our weekend trip to Cornwall. The service was perfect, the menu was interesting and the execution of the food perfect. It's solid French fare with a few twists and beautifully presented. The dishes were fancy, but not contrived and pretty reasonably priced. It deserves a star from Michelin.
