Liaison, The Description

A well recommended haven for those who still think that Chinese is best, nor would I quibble with that contention, particularly as presented at Liaison. This must be one of the few of its kind that sports a log fire during winter, but even without that the atmosphere is cosy and, because the place is made up of a series of smallish rooms, quite intimate. The choice from a wide range of set menus makes life a good deal easier. Understandably Liaison is popular so try to book well in advance and enjoy your evening that much more.

If you are a fan of Chinese food, then this is a must. I found Liaison by sheer chance and was taken by the choice of "different" dishes. Far more than just sweet & sour! This is a place that has taken the opportunity to show the true breadth of Chinese food rather than simply pander to standard perceptions. Flavours are subtly blended, pungent, aromatic and simply everything you always hope, yet rarely find. Decor & service are both extremely good. If you don't know Oxford well, ask for directions to Castle Street - Liaison is not easily stumbled upon, but is well worth a small (walking) detour from the bustling centre of the city.
