Light, The

Notwithstanding the fact that it is housed in a former power station, the atmosphere at The Light in Shoreditch is positively electrifying and the credit goes entirely to the team that run this remarkable restaurant. The ambience could be described as light, airy and spacious while a rustic streak runs through with the exposed brick walls and oak beams in the dining hall. There's a comfy lounge where you can relax over a drink with friends or colleagues.

The menu follows the French route using fresh, seasonal ingredients to create innovative dishes such as braised rabbit and ricotta tortellini with buttered leeks and pecorino amongst starters. For the main course, there might be roast Atlantic cod with samphire, Jersey Royal potatoes and preserved lemon while the rib eye steak with Dijon mustard is equally tantalising. Finishing touches include dark chocolate tart with raspberries although the British cheese board is also appealing. Wines, beers and spirits complete the drinks list at The Light.
