Lincoln Grille at White Hart Hotel Description
There can be few more alluring sites for a restaurant than in the shadow of one of Britain's finest cathedrals, though I have to confess to a certain prejudice. No matter, the opening of a third Grille restaurant is cause enough for rejoicing.
Their aim is to provide a neighbourhood restaurant that will offer good food, a warm welcome on a place where relaxation comes easy, and that specification certainly has been well met at Lincoln.
From the restaurant, which is open daily from 7am to midnight, there is a breathtaking view of the upper reaches of the Cathedral. Let's assume for a moment that you are attracted by the à la carte, offering starters of Scottish smoked salmon, a classic Caesar salad or the ever-faithful prawn cocktail.
A good pasta selection introduces that wonderful comfort dish, macaroni cheese, or for the more sophisticated a croquet monsieur, but if you are heading for something more filling there is poached fillet of haddock, chateaubriand for 2, vegetarian or regional sausages, or roast duck with savoy cabbage and blackberry and sage jus.
Pecan pie, dark chocolate truffle mousse, and stick toffee parfait all add lustre to the meal and the cheeseboard always carries some of the excellent local Stilton.

We gave it another go, this time there were four of us on a quiet Wednesday night, with two other tables already seated. If anything the service was even slower. One great waitress, but the food took so long to come and the one extra drink I ordered as the main course arrived, turned up with the desserts. The coffee was also a trauma as they had ‘a cappuccino incident’. The food was mainly okay, but like the service we won't be going back in a hurry.

It was a great place, with great food and friendly members of staff. We were delighted at the quality of the Sunday lunch for the price we paid. The surroundings were fashionable, and pleased granny, and the kids alike.
