Lion Inn

The Lion represents seven years of hard graft for Tom and Debbie Zsigo, during which time it changed from a scruffy, run-down pub to a popular, award-winning bar and restaurant now nearing saturation point.

The menu is wide and varied and is particularly notable for the Hungarian version of eight dishes. Tom is Hungarian and all the flair for his home cuisine is evident.

Amongst other specialities are ostrich, wild boar and kangaroo dishes and their fame and versatility has spread, ensuring that they don't have to be totally reliant upon the small local community.

One of their Awards is the Real Fire Pub of the Year, underlining the importance that customers almost anywhere place upon a cheerful and well-stocked open fire. The range of real ales is also impressive but wine has not been neglected either.

A sensible wine list is helped by house wine at £8.20 a bottle or £3.50 for a large glass. This is a real success story and as well as all the hard work there has been a wealth of plain common sense injected into its ethos.
