Loch Fyne - Edinburgh Description
Whilst the 49 Loch Fyne restaurants have a shared background there is a welcome degree of individuality encouraged throughout the group, which makes for customer interest. If you like wholesome, fresh and reliable seafood caught and reared under carefully controlled conditions, well presented in unfussy surroundings, and you enjoy being well looked after by pleasant staff, Loch Fyne is for you.
There is an increasing awareness of other food staples with an extended choice of meat dishes, but it is the original fare upon which their success was created that prevails. Loch Fyne kippers, a fine bouillabaisse, braden rost, kiln-roasted salmon fillet, and the toothsome oysters on ice, with a selection of accompaniments, all are to be found throughout the various restaurants, as well as Glen Fyne 21 day aged rib-eye steak and Scottish smoked venison. There is invariably a well-travelled wine list available which is sensible, both in content and prices.
Loch Fyne's greatest achievement has been to prove to a sceptical populace that chains or conglomerates can be made to work in the eating-out public's best interests.

Your Reviews of Loch Fyne - Edinburgh
John Wood (6 December 2008)
We had been frequent and regular visitors of the mother ship at Loch Fyne whenever we were holidaying on the West coast. We wanted to fix up an out of holiday visit for my wife's birthday, and came across the Edinburgh branch when looking for a telephone number on the internet. A one hour drive won out over the four hour alternative, and thus we discovered Edinburgh's outlet.
The members of staff can make or break a restaurant. Edinburgh's management need have no concerns on this point. We have been to Edinburgh some five or six times this past year, and have always found them to be cheerful, warm and welcoming with a fine knowledge of what is special that day. If there is a special my advice is to give it serious consideration. Now we trust them and order that without any over-long perusal of the menu. The building could be industrial were it not for the staff. It goes without saying that the food is finely sourced and cooked to excellence. There is a small sale point if you wish to extend the pleasure of eating what they gather. Very good selection of wines - the staff we have tested can advise there as well. All in all, it is a great experience in a relaxed environment, and nicely situated for looking out of the window and seeing what the poor people are doing. Poor as in that they are not inside with you!
