Loch Fyne - Sheffield Description
Whilst the 49 Loch Fyne restaurants have a shared background there is a welcome degree of individuality encouraged throughout the group, which makes for customer interest. If you like wholesome, fresh and reliable seafood caught and reared under carefully controlled conditions, well presented in unfussy surroundings, and you enjoy being well looked after by pleasant staff, Loch Fyne is for you.
There is an increasing awareness of other food staples with an extended choice of meat dishes, but it is the original fare upon which their success was created that prevails. Loch Fyne kippers, a fine bouillabaisse, braden rost, kiln-roasted salmon fillet, and the toothsome oysters on ice, with a selection of accompaniments, all are to be found throughout the various restaurants, as well as Glen Fyne 21 day aged rib-eye steak and Scottish smoked venison. There is invariably a well-travelled wine list available which is sensible, both in content and prices.
Loch Fyne's greatest achievement has been to prove to a sceptical populace that chains or conglomerates can be made to work in the eating-out public's best interests.

Your Reviews of Loch Fyne - Sheffield
John (6 October 2008)
We ate at Loch Fyne Sheffield in September 2008. It was a Saturday night, and pretty busy with plenty of families with their kids, and a noisy, busy atmosphere. The service was attentive, if a little slow on this busy night and a couple of things we asked for were forgotten till the manager of our table realised that, and brought them. The food was good, but not perfect. I had moules mariniere as a starter. The mussels were fresh, and tasty, but had a tad too much cream for my taste. They were served in a huge deep metal bowl, which made it difficult to get at the mussels - not easy at the best of times. This was followed by salmon fish cakes with a sweet chilli sauce. The sauce was good, but the salmon fishcakes would have benefited from some salmon. My wife had the sushi style smoked salmon, which was great, followed by the sea bream fillets. The fish was perfect, but it came on a bed of garlic mash, which overpowered the delicate fish. A herb mash or just plain would have been much better. We paid a total of £55, which included a bottle of good value house wine. Overall it was a reasonable meal, but could have been better with a bit more thought in the make up of the dishes.
