Penthouse is a new (April 05) addition to the London places-to-be-seen scene, with a great location looking out over Leicester Square and some of the more spectacular bits of the West End. Comments include rave reviews for the staff - nice to know that sort of staff can still be found - and pretty subjective opinions on the style of background music.

Moving on to the food most of the usual suspects are there and very well done, but in a way that seems to rob them of any individuality. Perhaps the chefs have been given dreadful warnings about the cult of self-expression. One reviewer felt that many of the dishes that could have, and probably once did have, a distinct-ness about them had been robbed of it in the interests of keeping everybody happy which, it has to be said, generally seems to be the case. Prices are reasonable for the area.
