Lombarda Restaurant, La

Aberdeen's oldest restaurant was established in 1922 and has been serving the inhabitants of the granite city with quality, good value Italian food ever since. However, like most of their kind in Scotland they have not been slow to take advantage of Scotland's ingredients and produce and, as almost always, this has proved to be a happy combination.

Nor has this stopped short of the cuisine and the menu contains plenty of dishes that would be equally at home in a British restaurant or bistro. Service is friendly and efficient.

Should you have romance in mind it's a good idea to locate a table in the old restaurant that is somehow just cosier than the modern extension - must be something to do with the lighting. The wine list leans markedly towards Italy but not to the total exclusion of other bins from interesting and fairly priced sources.
