London Road Description
Located in the heart of fashionable Alderley Edge, within comfortable striking distance of Manchester but a thousand miles away in ambience and style, we have here the latest in the Heathcote Collection of distinctive and smart/casual restaurants. Classical British and French dishes, using only the finest ingredients, ensure that London Road is quickly establishing itself as the place to be in this money-strewn and much sought-after northern enclave.
The menu at London Road makes no pretences, and offers a wide range of dishes from traditional classics to unique culinary delights, supported by daily specials along with a dedicated carte for the little ones.
Wonderfully fresh fish features strongly and the à la carte starter list provides seared king scallops with black pudding, sweet potato puree, ham crisps and balsamic reduction, or the traditional 'Cheshire Smoke House' smoked salmon with black pepper, brown bread and lemon.
Amongst the good range of fish and seafood look for grilled turbot with herb potatoes, buttered kale, salsify and turkey juices, six Menai oysters with Cabernet Sauvignon vinegar and shallots, or roast monkfish cheeks with braised oxtail, button onions, lentils and cumin spinach. A risotto of handpicked East Coast crab, scallop and roasted garlic make a welcome appearance.
A Goosnargh duck breast with beetroot fondant, celeriac puree, spinach, cranberry jelly and duck sauce truly is a dish fit for a king while the slow cooked pork belly with rhubarb and black pudding crumble, crackling, glazed apple and port sauce is a wonderful combination, and demonstrates the Heathcote skill in recreating interest in food in reasonable, rather than exotic, terms.
Even the vegetables and side orders are made to look appealing, with Blacksticks blue cheese soufflé, pappardelle of baby artichokes and celery, seasonal potatoes and herb butter, and roasted pumpkin with rosemary and olive oil.
The range of desserts is outrageously indulgent, featuring warm treacle tart with clotted cream ice cream, a classic sherry trifle, bread and butter pudding with compote of apricots or a selection of British Isle cheeses with Hawes fruit cake, chutney and biscuits.
High tea still lingers in Scotland, is frequently misrepresented south of the Border and is served at London Road with a variety of main dishes such as Croque Monsieur and that deeply satisfying dish, ham, eggs and chips. Some other tasty options include glazed shepherds pie, minute steak sandwich with caramelised onions and Croque Madame.
Their Website will give you the wider picture, click on it to find more about this wonderful value at this very stylish addition to the Heathcote Collection.

Your Reviews of London Road
Wendy K (14 July 2008)
This is a beautiful, modern restaurant. Our party was large and the chef devised us a set menu. We were surprised at the variety of choices. I had crispy duck to start with and it tasted amazing, followed by sea bass, this was cooked to perfection. The members of staff were very pleasant and professional. The whole experience was topped off with the famous bread and butter pudding. I can’t wait for the Christmas menu and we're definitely returning for our next party.
