Maid Marian Description
Located in a sixteenth-century cottage overlooking the village church, the Maid Marian is a charming restaurant and bar in the heart of the Sherwood Forest. The refuge benefits from a patio for al fresco dining, or, during the chilly months, a real log fire in the lounge.
Under the ownership of Head Chef Alain and Alison, you can be assured that the Maid Marian provides high quality food and service, whether you unwind with a modern European or French meal, or just a glass of wine.
Fresh Menai mussels smothered with a Dijon mustard crème fraîche glaze ensure your meal is off to a brilliant start. For mains you could choose between a fillet steak stuffed with Stilton and wrapped in bacon with a black pepper sauce; and carpaccio of monkfish and mild chilli gravadlax with tomato and basil sorbet and burdock crisps. A traditional spotted dick with creamy custard helps bring matters to a comforting close.
The diverse wine list offers the perfect accompaniments to a meal.

I took my nephew who is a Chef and had the most wonderful meal. The service and the food were excellent. It is about time Mansfield had a really good restaurant. I also went with my husband and again, had a great meal. I would recommend the mussels to start and the lamb for main course. My husband had the fish, which was amazing. I would definitely recommend it.

I had the most wonderful meal there last night. The dauphinoise potatoes were so delicious and crispy, I can still taste them and the rib-eye steak was succulent. Even the bread with the soup was lovely. Thoroughly enjoyable.
