Makiyaki - Kingston Description

Makiyaki with its striking black and white façade specialises in Japanese food. The interior of this little restaurant is somewhat dark and dated but the food is reasonably priced and offers a good variety of flavours. Classic dishes such as soya bean soup, grilled fish with noodle broth and the usual sashimi and sushi dishes are all listed. In addition there's also the likes of deep fried skewers of seafood with a thick soy sauce, or deep-fried oysters, whilst the a la carte nigiri sushi includes sea urchin and octopus.

I love this restaurant. The food is always excellent and so is the service. I have brought quite a few people, including my 90 year old mum- in-law, and they have all thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

It’s a great place to eat, with big variety on Japanese dishes but I would love to have more sushi actually. The décor could be improved although I have rarely eaten in Japanese restaurants where I like the décor. But it’s a great restaurant for Kingston and even for London.
