Manor House Inn

Carterway Heads, Shotley Bridge, nr Consett, DH8 9LX

Sitting atop a hill, The Manor House Inn is a pub-restaurant, overlooking the spectacular Derwent Reservoir. With the stone building dating back to the 1750's, the bar has a rustic décor, with wooden flooring, an open fireplace and exposed bricks, whilst the lounge and the restaurant feature a relatively modern interior - carpeted flooring, teak furnishings and glass windows - perfect to enjoy a meal with some splendid views of the valley. A daily changing specials menu is displayed on the board and you could begin with a spicy chicken salad or pan-fried king prawns, either cooked in garlic butter or in chilli, lime and coriander. Traditional mains such as Cumberland sausage and mash and fish pie vie with braised lamb shank for attention.

REVIEWS OF Manor House Inn

David (26 February 2010)

We had very good dinner in the pub. They serve home made pies, rabbit, venison, ox tail, etc. The local ales are good, exactly how a pub dinner should be. The landlord is pleasant and they have fine rooms. The breakfast was a slight let-down, but we would certainly stay here again and definitely eat here again.
