Mao Tai Description

The ever-popular Mao Tai has opened after a recent refurbishment with a new energy that has put it to the fore of South East Asian food in London. Not even its Mayfair contemporaries come close now to this already well-established local. The food is, quite simply, stand alone, in both flavour and presentation.

With a successful combination of daily deliveries of seafood and organic salmon, supplies of Aberdeen Angus beef and more specialist ingredients imported directly from South East Asia, the eclectic restaurant menu offers a veritable grand tour of the region. Why not start your trip in Vietnam with mooli, mint and prawn fresh Vietnamese rolls, then continue into coastal South China with surf clams, chilli and Chinese sausage or inland Japan for sirloin tobanyaki with mushrooms.

In the bustling restaurant, dark wood, soft lighting and modern art work all combine to create a warm yet intimate atmosphere that remains fresh and contemporary.

In contrast, the theatrically lit and designed new Cocktail Bar offers a fabulous list of both traditional and signature cocktails - think lemon grass and chilli martini, refreshing mojito or zesty caipirinha -  numerous wines and champagnes and a sensual selection of accompanying dim sum and South East Asian inspired bar food.

Mao Tai is located on the New King's Road, off Parson's Green and offers a perfect and thoroughly stylish place to relax for an atmospheric lunch or dinner or sample something interesting from the bar menu and cocktail list.
