Margot's Bistro

11 Duke Street, Padstow, PL28 8AB

Originally opened in 1993 by Mike and Elaine (Margot) Meredith, the chef/owner is now Adrian Oliver, assisted by his wife Julie. There are only 8 tables which makes for a cosy sort of atmosphere. The staff are friendly and efficient and the cuisine could be described as good local materials produced in a no-nonsense manner. There is a good balance between fish and other items. As they say themselves 'we prefer to talk to vegetarians and cook for them individually, rather than giving them nut cutlets'. One has the distinct feeling that if you asked for a savoury they would rise to the challenge. The crisp vegetables served in bamboo steamer baskets are always well received. New World inclined wine list, but some Old included.

REVIEWS OF Margot's Bistro

linda and alan ritchie (8 November 2011)

We have stayed in padstow for a number of years and we always try to get a table at margot's which sometimes is difficult as this is such a fantastic place to eat and should not be missed. We are coming to Cornwall on 18th November and staying at Porthleven but I am at this moment trying to make a reservation to eat at margot's. Do not miss out on this fantastic place to eat it is good value and fantastic food and the service you get from all concerned is second to none THIS IS A FANTASTIC RESTAURANT DO NOT MISS IT, hope to see them soon.

We were very lucky to walk in just after someone had just canceled, so we managed to get a table for three. The food is wonderful; by far the best in Padstow, the scollops were to die for and my daughter loved the homemade chocks. Thanks for a lovely evening.
