Marlingford Bell, The Description

The country style dining house on Bawburgh Road in Marlingford is run by local chef Mark Bridges and his wife Julie in a quiet and relaxed setting, which appeals to a wide cross section of the public.

The bill of fare features well-known dishes the English love to call their own. Homemade ice cream, organic farmed meats from Swannington and North Norfolk seafood feature on the menu. There are pies, twenty-one day aged steaks, local game and a recently launched retro list of dishes revives a selection of timeless, classic favourites. The evening a la carte incorporates modern fare such as smoked boar sausage served hot with a chilli, Norfolk mustard cream and port and beetroot sorbet with tomato spelt bread.

The lunchtime carvery is open seven days a week and offers their famous steak and kidney pudding, joints of the day accompanied by Maris Piper potatoes, Yorkshire pudding with vegetables and fisherman?s pie among other choices. The hog roast is always a tasty centrepiece and gives customers a chance to try the slow spit cooked meat with mustard and applesauce. The Spanish paella is joined by spaghetti and lasagne as surprises on the traditionally British menu.

Their outside party bar provides a fine setting for sixty people to enjoy balmy evenings in and plays host to special occasions like parties, weddings and barn dances. There are a number of real cask ales and wines available by the glass. The Marlingford Bell promises a friendly welcome along with a comfortable dining experience.

Your Reviews of Marlingford Bell, The

Matt Burgess (16 October 2009)

I heard that The Marlingford Bell had been taken over, so I thought we would give it a try. It’s quite different now. The décor, seating and atmosphere are so much more inviting. Everybody in our party enjoyed the food and the staff are friendly and attentive. A good time was had by all and it’s quite a find in this sleepy village!

Geoffrey Marks (13 October 2009)

I went there for dinner last night with my wife. It is a small pub with a small bar and a restaurant four times the size of the bar. The food was outstanding, the service was superb, and the staff were pleasant and friendly. I have dined all over the place good, bad and indifferent but this place beats them all hands down and for the price there is no comparison. I would recommend this place to anybody and everybody.
