Lunch time experience - only arrived at 12.00pm so first in, self serve buffet, but staff are swift to clear plates and serve breads/drinks. Visited early December 2011, but forced myself as i knew the place before (Charlie Choi's) and gave up on it really as it went down hill but then it closed down and changed name to Maya, i asked and they tell me differant people running it now, anyway, similar decor as before (which was excellent anyway) stairs or lift access as its first floor, so we gave it a go for lunch at £6.95 each, we had 2 cokes and surprisingly a large glass and priced at only £1.50. previously well over priced nearer the £3 mark, so £8.50 with drink total lunchtime just under £17 for 2, (Kids £3.50 i think it was) for ALL you can fit in, so go hungry. Firstly the starters were great, juicy chicken tikka, fish pakoras where very light, crisp wontons, great onion bahji's and excellent french fries, popadoms and prawn crackers (tasted better though as these might have been cooked in old oil), superb Piri-piri chicken wings the meat just slide from the bone, good salad stuff and fresh home made sauces, with lots of nibbly bits, fresh made pizza, soups, nan breads made to order. Now the mains. previously in the old Charlie Choi's the currys where same old usual buffet bland ones , but the ones on on offer now at Maya were of resturant menu quality, lots of meat (Lamb/Chicken) well tasting thick sauces, the Thai curry was spot on ,there was sweet and sour chicken with a bright orange sauce which was too battery and little meat so didn't get seconds, there was oriental lamb dish to which i had 3 helpings i loved it, there is uncooked ingredients for you to hand to the chef who will cook as you like, 2 rice choices and something for the veggies too, Now desserts - ice cream machine, cakes, jellys,Indian rice pudding and a glorious sweet milk based dessert with glass noodles in. 3 helpings i had with a glare from the wife. I pigged out (Should of used the lift down) and skipped evening dinner as felt full for the rest of the day. on the receipt you can get 10% discount when next visiting or 15% with-in 7 days. There also seems to be a area separated what is an Indian restuarant not sure if its Menu only though. A massive improvemant from the old place hope it continues and it will be fairly regular for us when we are very hungry, i love very good quality fresh buffets and this ticks all the boxes. A very positive experiance coming from a big asian food fan. Visited December 2011
