Mela - Shaftsbury Description

Mela celebrates the festive spirit of Indian food and brings a cornucopia of delights from the sub-continent which are as pleasing to the eye as they are to the palate. At all of their locations, the focus lies squarely on producing a spread of innovative dishes that span the culinary regions of India in an atmosphere that is sophisticated, elegant and yet friendly. A special lunch and early evening menu both offer fantastic value.

Starters from the à la carte could bring whitebait marinated in crushed garlic with curry leaves or spiced duck mince in puff pastry. Main courses feature the ever favourite tandoor dishes such as char grilled chicken supremes marinated in delicate spices and amongst curries there's lamb chop korma achari, succulent meat in delicious gravy of onion and yoghurt. Vegetarians have some splendid options with steamed spinach and paneer dumplings and the drinks list comes alive with some sparkling cocktails.

Fixed Lunch

  • £12.50 (3 courses)

The flavours are simply amazing and mind blowing - just like how my mum makes it. There is still room for improvement though with more offers.

Cooper (4 January 2007)
