Mem Saab Fine Dine and Champagne Bar Description
Mem Saab in Leicester adopts a colonial approach by naming their restaurant as a reminder of the days of the British Raj in India, but the decor is contemporary and so is the ambience, although the food is traditional and just as delicious as you would expect it to be. So don't spend too much time wondering before saunter in for a meal with friends or family, because although the experience there is bound to leave your craving for Indian food assuaged, you will want to come again.
The menu features chilli tiger prawns with peppers, onions and chillies amongst the starters and then progresses towards main courses such as rogan josh or a traditional korma. At lunchtime you might want to try out their tandoori nan wraps served with fries and salad and filled with lamb or chicken tikkas. Finally, finish with the gajar ka halwa, warm carrot and cardamom pudding served with honey and saffron clotted cream.

It is highly recommended. What a great place! It has delicious food, good décor, and friendly staff. An all round thumbs up to it.

We visited Mem Saab on a Saturday and were greeted in the so-called champagne lounge where we were offered some drinks before we ate. The ambience was brilliant as there was a pianist tinkling away at the baby grand. Though we had to wait for a table to be set, we were gobsmacked at the great views from our seats. I had the chicken and fish pakora to start with, which had a mouth watering battered skin. For mains I chose the lamb rogan, which was medium with plenty of coriander, as I had requested. The rest of the party also enjoyed their mains. We all thought the rice was fluffy and naans were hot. I didn’t have a dessert, couldn’t fit it in, but my partner did, a rich baileys cheesecake, which was made in-house and boy did she enjoy it – don’t think the dishwasher had to clean her plate. This place is highly recommended although you should book if visiting on a Saturday or you will be waiting for a table. It gets 5 stars from me and the lady.
