Mem Saab in Leicester adopts a colonial approach by naming their restaurant as a reminder of the days of the British Raj in India, but the decor is contemporary and so is the ambience, although the food is traditional and just as delicious as you would expect it to be. So don't spend too much time wondering before saunter in for a meal with friends or family, because although the experience there is bound to leave your craving for Indian food assuaged, you will want to come again.

The menu features chilli tiger prawns with peppers, onions and chillies amongst the starters and then progresses towards main courses such as rogan josh or a traditional korma. At lunchtime you might want to try out their tandoori nan wraps served with fries and salad and filled with lamb or chicken tikkas. Finally, finish with the gajar ka halwa, warm carrot and cardamom pudding served with honey and saffron clotted cream.
