Menier Chocolate Factory

51-53 Southwark Street, London, SE1 1RU

The Menier Chocolate Factory was just what its name says although that was back in the 19th century and today it is a renowned art gallery, theatre and restaurant. With its bare brick walls and timber beams there is a lot of character in the setting that adds to the pleasure of eating there and it is just the place for a casual meeting with friends or even a more formal business lunch. Starters include confit of baby duck leg with pickled cabbage and cranberry jam followed by wild game sausages with creamy mash and green beans and cabernet jus. Amongst the sharing plates, the Mediterranean platter will appeal immensely to vegetarians in the group. For dessert there's a pear and cherry Bakewell tart with Chantilly cream or a selection of English cheeses with quince jelly, grapes and oatcakes.

REVIEWS OF Menier Chocolate Factory

Sharon Fisher (4 April 2011)

We came to the Menier for the first time last week and will definitely be back soon. We both had the burger which was huge and great value. It came with chips that were giant-like bricks. I would be back just for them. For afters, I had the best brownie ever - dessert was out of this world. Amazing atmosphere and really friendly staff. Five stars from us!
