Just a short note to say thank you to the team at The Merchants of Colegate for a wonderful evening - the food, wine and service were fine. It was nice to see a large variety of dishes on offer at different price levels. We will definitely go back.

I went to The Merchants of Colegate after about a year, only to be pleasantly surprised by their new menu offering a lot more varied choices and price ranges. It’s good to see, now that money is a bit tighter, that they have an affordable menu, but I can assure you they have not budged on quality. My wife and I enjoyed a two course meal and a bottle of good wine for a mere £50. I had the lamb shank with mushroom and tomato risotto followed by apple tart tatin, and my wife had stuffed chicken breast with asparagus and applewood cheddar wrapped in bacon, mash potato and barbeque sauce followed by hot chocolate fondant, which she thought was divine.
