It's not often that you can sit on the beach and eat your fish and chips but you can at The Mermaid. Regarded with profound affection by its many fans the menu varies little from the traditional, nor would the customers wish it to. Don't dress for dinner but be prepared for some of the best fish and chips you have ever eaten, and as for the spotted dick . . . .

What can I say about Mermaid Café that has not been written in other articles? While visiting my family in Hastings, I always look forward to eating there and enjoying the atmosphere, but most of all the great fish and chips. There are other things on the menu to serve all appetites. The fish is fresh and caught from the sea opposite. Take time to sit outside, never mind the seagulls that surround the place, and watch the world go by. Now I realise how much I missed the place since moving away.
