Metrogusto

Although Metrogusto portrays that clichéd image of an Italian trattoria, it still manages to survive with much gusto and that too in a nondescript location on Theberton Street. The interior is done up in a quirky, unconventional manner and with the Michelin inspectors moved to award a Bib Gourmand, the value for money factor could hardly be more emphasised.

The kitchen doles out an eclectic list of well-executed Italian dishes such as grilled stuffed baby squid and mussels in white wine, garlic and tomato sauce, followed by perhaps a pasta course of pappardelle with a ragù of beef, veal, cream and chestnuts. Main courses include pan-fried beef medallions served with shaved Parmesan and pan-fried duck breast with plum and campari sauce. The dessert list is also worth exploring with some unusual ice cream flavours such as goat's cheese and rosemary, and the wine list keeps the Italian flag flying high.
