Mill Restaurant at Hornsbury Mill, The

A 19th century watermill nestling deep in the heart of Somerset is now home to the Hornsbury Mill where modern features blend seamlessly with tradition. Five acres of beautifully landscaped water gardens serve as a good backdrop and at the Mill Restaurant watch the water wheel quietly rustling away in the corner as you enjoy your meal.

The kitchen supports the organic food movement and most of the ingredients are locally sourced, which includes the vegetables, local beef, trout and Somerset cheeses. Choose from an army of little dishes such as homemade chicken and pork coarse pâté and delicate slivers of lamb in pesto, followed by main courses which arrive in all their freshness, such as char-grilled sirloin steak accompanied by a medley of sun blushed tomatoes, roast red onions, spinach and wild mushrooms. The dessert creation of Hornsbury's poached caramel-glazed apple tart sits serenely inside a crisp pastry case and appears with a sharp lemon sorbet.
