Miss Cranston's Tearoom

33 Gordon Street, City Centre, Glasgow, G1 4PF

Miss Cranston may have been a well-known figure in pioneering the tearoom concept as far back as the 1880s but her legacy still lives on in Glasgow. Two young designers, Anne Perry and Karen Longmuir, commissioned for the new Miss Cranston's Tearooms, have used subtle colours enhanced with natural materials and etched copper to create a relaxed place where guests could enjoy a cup of tea, coffee or a light meal. At lunchtime smoked salmon and cucumber or chicken and lemon mayonnaise sandwich could be followed by scones, pancakes and refreshing pots of tea. Their chocolate collection features praline, caramel, fondant and ganache centres of various fruit and liqueur flavours. The heady aroma wafting from the adjoining shop could draw you to choose from a selection of tasty, high quality bread, some of which is made with organic flour using traditional Scottish and continental baking techniques, boxed biscuits and preserves to take home.
