Mix at Mechu
47-59 Summer Row, Birmingham, B3 1JJ
Following a £1 million makeover, the new bar and grill at Mechu pushes the New York vibe to the next level with its exposed brickwork, flaming candles, deep purple timber flooring and slouchy seating. A move towards laidback informality is evident in the grill menu that offers grazing plates, sharing dishes, salads, steaks and ribs, if you have a sweet tooth, you can skip the main courses and head straight for an ice cream sundae. As you can eat something simple, such as a hamburger or classic Caesar salad with char-grilled chicken, or go for the full works with a Chateaubriand, it is difficult to give an accurate average cost per head, you can go for low or high field depending on your mood.Following a £1 million makeover, the new bar and grill at Mechu pushes the New York vibe to the next level with its exposed brickwork, flaming candles, deep purple timber flooring and slouchy seating. The upper level at Mechu is now a private VIP club lounge with Dom Perignon by Night status, offering luxury booths, cocktails and of course, champagne. With a stylish nod to the sixties, the interior is a visual treat, think Mary Quant deluxe with a dash of Paco Rabanne.
If you want to gain access to the private lounge at Mechu you'll need to get past a high-tech biometric system that will scan your thumbprint against a database of permitted guests in order to determine if entry is allowed. Six plush booths are available to be reserved, each one is named after a Grande Marque champagne house. Should you really want to impress then the Dom Perignon and Cristal booths are strictly for VIPs and require a minimum spend of £500.

REVIEWS OF Mix at Mechu
Ad Butt (11 December 2009)
Hi Everyone - Firstly, Merry Xmas. Secondly, I just want to say that Mechu bar & grill is a fantastic venue for the UK's second city. The management, bar staff and doormen are brilliant and a big thank you for providing us with a safe and enjoyable place to let your hair down after a long week in the rat race. There is nothing wrong with the doormen's attitude. They are always welcoming and professional in their manner - Thanks guys. After all, it's important to let the right like minded individual’s entry to prevent any unsavoury atmosphere in my opinion. Roll on Mechu and lets all keep partying into 2010 and beyond. Thanks for adding that touch of class to Birmingham. God Bless.

I felt the door men were so rude that they need to be sorted out.
