Not Impressed - Sorry! (21 January 2009)

We visited with friends after hearing so much about this 'wonderful' restaurant. Can't say I was impressed with the food. The salad bar was in my opinion poor and not a lot of choice. I had a sirloin steak, asked for medium to well done - it was in fact so well done it was dry and burnt in places. Felt that the food presentation could be a little better, after all a plate of homemade chips, half a tomato and small amount of lettuce leaves aren't exactly that appealing, needed something green on the plate - and peas aren't exactly that expensive. Won't make a return trip, prefer to eat at the best Italian in my area where we can get three courses plus coffee and a rose to take home for around the same price.

I have eaten at Le Monde on more than one occasion and found it to be unpretentious, good fun and great value. The price can go up quickly if you start ordering huge amounts of fish, wine and champagne. Surely that is the charm of the place, for when you leave you promise yourself to show a little more restraint on your next visit, which usually never happens! It’s a great place for a casual gathering with good friends.
