Montrose Description
You're right; Montrose is named after the famous French vineyard Château Montrose, a leading vinery of St.Estéphe. Thousands of miles away in Southborough, Kent, a group of food and wine professionals got together and founded Montrose restaurant that focuses on providing customers with tasty food, good wine and a unique boutique dining experience in a charming Victorian building.
The chefs make use of local, seasonal produce to create a range of regularly changing modern European dishes, all you need to do is pick, relax and enjoy! Expect to find starters of peppered mackerel fillets and pan-seared pigeon breasts, and mains that could include wild mushroom and cashew nut stroganoff; lavender crusted rack of Renhurst farm lamb, and paupiette of lemon sole filled with a crab and prawn mousse. A dessert of hot chocolate fondant or platter of cheeses helps end proceedings.
An excellent selection of properly aged, rare, affordable, and mainly French wines are available by the glass and bottle to have before, during or after meals.
Fixed Lunch

Your Reviews of Montrose
Emily (27 April 2009)
After a friendly welcome, we devoured the fantastic food, which perfectly complemented the recommended wine. This, alongside the wonderful ambience led to a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing evening. An experience we won't forget and hope to repeat soon. It’s quite simply, a restaurant not to be missed if you are in Tunbridge Wells.

After trying to book twice only to be told they were fully booked, we managed to book a table two weeks in advance. My wife and I had been talking for sometime about paying the restaurant a visit after seeing it while we were stuck in horrid traffic, which has now gone, thank God. We were greeted at the door and shown to our table. The restaurant was packed. It is a beautiful restaurant. We were given champagne cocktails to start, which kept my wife happy. The service was a little slow, but I realised the manager had a plaster cast on his ankle, which he said would be off soon. Also a member of staff hadn't turned up, but they didn't show any signs of stress and our service was very attentive. The food was outstanding, the best I’ve had in Tunbridge for some time. Then we had the dessert, a banana tart! I’m booking up now just for that.
