Monza
6 Yeoman's Row, London, SW3 2AH
You really can't miss Monza on Yeoman's Row, its bright yellow façade is certainly eye-catching, but step inside and the yellow theme still persists; perhaps vivid colours do their bit to cheer people up. Numerous pictures of F1 and racing drivers reveal a real passion for cars and circuits and the close-packed table layout enhances the feeling of bonhomie. Then its time to draw attention to matters concerning food, and yes, it is Italian all along, starting with crispy duck leg served with salad and balsamic vinegar and asparagus with smoked salmon, through to chicken breast stuffed with crab and prawns in pink sauce, and Dover sole, grilled or sautéed with butter and lemon. You really can't miss Monza on Yeoman's Row, its bright yellow façade is certainly eye-catching, but step inside and the yellow theme still persists; perhaps vivid colours do their bit to cheer people up. A pasta course mixes rigatoni with bacon, mushrooms, broad beans and cream, and linguine is tossed with monkfish, prawns, cherry tomatoes and rocket salad. Vin Santo or Grappa Barolo complements the soft, sweet flavour of dome vanilla rhubarb or semifreddo torroncino at dessert time.

REVIEWS OF Monza
Could Do Better (13 April 2008)
It was a disappointing experience. Four of us were there for a celebratory evening meal and it would have been good if our waiter had been friendly. This was a Monday and there were few people around, so he was not exactly rushed off his feet. We decided on an aperitif but nothing was offered - my husband then asked for one and it was brought to him, but the waiter made no attempt to ask the rest of us, so we did without. The starters were acceptable, though the mozzarella didn't taste like the proper buffalo mozzarella announced on the menu. Two of us had grilled swordfish which was dry and tough. The wine was average, but we had to pour it ourselves. The sweet was very good, and brought by a waitress who was friendly and smiled at us. At £50 per head, I felt it was not good value for money.
