Moon & Sixpence
27 Milsom Place, Bath, BA1 1BZ
This a splendid dive in the middle of Bath, used as much as a wine bar as a restaurant, which is rather a shame because the food is excellent. Very popular pre-theatre and events for supper and light snacks with a real buzz, nice staff and a generally good feel to it. Start with the rare-roasted duck with sesame crisps, lychees and hoi sin dressing before moving on to the roast cod with fresh herb butter, deep fried leeks and clams. The mousses make a good note on which to finish. As one might reasonably expect the wine list is well travelled, reasonably priced and capable of many evening's enjoyable exploration.Bistro

REVIEWS OF Moon & Sixpence
Christian Malford (13 January 2010)
We had the pleasure of dining at the Moon and Sixpence on a snowy Friday night just recently, and what a fabulous evening we had. Even though Bath was unusually quiet, this restaurant was buzzing. The food and ambience was superb and the staff friendly and efficient. There were some surprises such as a simple ‘amuse bouche’ of stir-fried vegetables with a thin slice of fillet steak. The game terrine starter was delicious as was the pheasant mains - just the meal for a cold winter's night and my wife's steak was ‘melt- in-the-mouth’ splendour. The puddings were marvelous and unusual - cranberry and ginger pudding with mint ice cream and the Calvados came in a warmed glass. The wine list was extensive and well-priced - our bottle of Faugeres complemented the food exceptionally well. We shall definitely return.

My wife and I were visiting Bath for a midsummer weekend and were recommended to try the Moon and Sixpence. This recommendation failed to prepare us for a wonderful dining experience. The food, from the excellent amuse bouche and then through the three courses, was superb and beautifully presented - obviously prepared by people who are in love with their craft. The service was impeccable and very personable throughout a meal which was one of the best we have enjoyed in any restaurant anywhere. Thanks to all for a great evening.
