Moro
34-36 Exmouth Market, London, EC1R 4QE
Regulars at Exmouth Market know all about Moro Restaurant, a lively establishment with a delightful combination of Spanish and North African cuisines. For more than a decade now, people have been visiting them for some exceedingly good tapas and a delectable range of Moorish and Mediterranean fare. The decor is at best functional but no one really seems to mind and the focus is on friendly and efficient service in a cosy ambience. The kitchen features a wood burning oven and a charcoal grill that are kept working throughout the day, so the air is permeated with the aromas of sourdough bread baking and other tantalising smells. The menu changes weekly and could offer a starter of grilled red pepper salad with cumin, preserved lemon and anchovies followed by charcoal grilled mackerel with fava bean puree and white cabbage and radish salad.Regulars at Exmouth Market know all about Moro Restaurant, a lively establishment with a delightful combination of Spanish and North African cuisines. The fragrant rosewater and cardamom ice cream is a perfect way to end the meal on the same exotic note. The wine list at Moro offers a decent number of choices and sherry features strongly.

REVIEWS OF Moro
Clayton Reed (24 October 2011)
I have been visiting Moro every few weeks for several years, virtually every time I meet clients in the UK. I was there today and was sadly disappointed to find it has gone way downhill. The service was unbelievably slow, two orders were completely wrong and another dish was returned because there was some tissue on the plate. In fact the food was all over the place, I felt so embarrassed I ended up making excuses on behalf of the restaurant just to save some face in front of my guests. When the bill finally came I made a comment that things were not exactly up to the usual standard and I did not expect to pay for one of the dishes that was returned and I was told, “sorry we have to have full payment, you were offered a replacement.” We had no time and had to go, I paid but won’t be going back I can tell you that.

Wonderful. We were lucky enough to get a table on Saturday and I can't fault it. Service was friendly, efficient and unobtrusive. Food was fresh, well presented, amply portioned and perfectly seasoned. My main course, sea bass was possibly the best I've ever had. Having read other recommendations, I chose the raisin ice cream for dessert and wasn't disappointed. It’s excellent value at approx £35 per head, inclusive of wine. I couldn't wait to go again - only wish it was closer!
