Moss Nook Description

Should you be obliged to suffer the indignities and frustrations of Manchester Airport, and I am not suggesting it is any different from any other, you could either brace or console yourself depending upon the direction, with a meal at that well-established haven of calm and excellence which is Moss Nook. With all the confidence that comes from three decades of constant vigilance and preparedness to use opinion as your guide, Kevin Lofthouse and his team unfailingly produce the goods. The cuisine derives from the French with a permanently up-dated English interpretation, combining to produce dishes that are reassuring yet sufficiently challenging to rouse the palate from slumber. A wine list that will inspire, with house wine at £14.

Your Reviews of Moss Nook

Treasurer (30 November 2008)

We were six ladies out for a good quality meal in pleasant surroundings with good service. We were not disappointed. We had the 'surprise menu', which was delicious and all our needs including vegetarian and coeliac were catered for. The wines too were very good and reasonable at £19.50 per bottle. The lighting we felt was a little bright, but it was nice to see what we were eating. The staff were also excellent.

Steven Andrews (24 November 2008)

We ate at the Moss Nook a week ago using our hi-life card. We had never been there before, but the reviews were good so we thought we would try it. There were four of us and we had two hi-life cards. I’ve got to say that the food was excellent. I had the black pudding to start followed by the roast duckling and tiramisu. My partner had the diver scallops followed by the peppered steak, and then the chocolate medley. We were very well looked after and the members of staff were a compliment to the restaurant. If there was one criticism I would make, it is that when we arrived the restaurant was quiet and we could hear everything that was being said in the kitchen. We did hear that another table had ordered the set menu and that there were some things that they could not eat. Then we heard a male voice, who we assumed to be the chefs saying that they should have ordered from the menu. Maybe the members of staff should be a little more considerate to their customers needs. Otherwise apart from the obvious disgruntled kitchen staff, the night was excellent. The tall man who looked after us and poured our wine was a credit. Thank you.
