Mother India Description

Mother India represents civilised Indian eating out in spacious surroundings with an emphasis on the relaxed approach, no flock wallpaper and more than hint of the Raj.

Prices are particularly reasonable with lunch at £6.95, through pre-theatre for an extra pound (during the week) and between £12.95 to £16.95 for dinner. Nobody seems quite clear which ethnic cuisine pioneered the eat as much as you wish buffet but it is certainly done here to perfection with fresh food and no courses left sitting around hardening its arteries over the heaters. A typical meal might consist of spiced haddock, chicken with spinach leaf and kheer, which is rice pudding and calculated to stir the interests of British palates. Plenty of beers and wines available, but a BYO policy operates if you prefer.

Fixed Lunch

  • £10.50 (2 courses)

Your Reviews of Mother India

Claire (11 February 2008)

Mother India is without a doubt the best Indian restaurant in Glasgow. My family are fans of the restaurant for a while now, and it just gets better and better. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes which taste like genuine Indian food - my personal favourite is the curried fish starter. The staff are always very attentive, polite and efficient. I always recommend this restaurant to people I know, and those who have gone there are not disappointed. Simply brilliant.

Paul Francis (5 November 2007)

Absolutely the worst Indian meal I have had in twenty five years of eating Indian food. The meal was rushed, not cooked properly, bland and our complaints were dismissed out of hand. Glasgow has some great curry houses, and the place ranks as the lowest of the low. There are plenty of other places to eat so go and spend your hard earned money somewhere else, don’t waste it on the place.
