Mr Fish Description

Britain's love for good old fish and chips is more than hundred and fifty years old, and restaurants like Mr Fish help in carrying forward this national tradition even today. The bright and stylish art deco interior of the Bayswater outlet together with warm and attentive service makes it a very welcoming refuge indeed.

The choices at Mr Fish delight those who find fish irresistible - cod, haddock, plaice or huss deliciously battered, poached, bread crumbed, grilled or coated in Matzo meal - and all cooked to high standards. There's no need to be disappointed if you're not in the mood for fish, because there are burgers, chicken, wraps and salads also.

Consider scampi bites or avocado with prawns followed by a flavoursome steak or a fillet of rock salmon with chunky chips, buttered rolls and a pot of tea. Side orders include mushy peas, baked beans and pickled onions.

The wines have been selected from all over the world to complement the dishes.

Fixed Lunch

Your Reviews of Mr Fish

Jacques Santini (26 November 2005)

This is simply the most wonderful fish restaurant that I have ever had the pleasure of dining in. From the moment I walked I the door, the experience was sheer joy. The place has the feel of a contemporary diner. The black and white photo prints of fishing boats and trawlers contrasted exquisitely with the bright colour scheme in the restaurant.

Having sat down, I was greeted with warm and friendly service from one of the waitresses. The menu contained an array of ocean delights ranging from calamari to delicately poached fish. Unlike most other fish and chip restaurants, Mr. Fish offers the customer the choice of having the fish fried, grilled or poached. I opted for the shrimp cocktail followed by poached plaice. The shrimp cocktail was wonderfully prepared and presented and the poached fish was extremely delicate and flavourful.

The waitress approached me several times during the meal to inquire whether I was happy with the meal or needed anything. Normally, this is the kind of service that you would expect to see in many restaurants in the United States. Most restaurants in London could learn a thing or two from Mr. Fish. The prices were very reasonable, given the high quality of the food. Overall, brilliant food, superb service and great ambiance. Put it on your list of restaurants to eat in!
