Since 1984 Mr Kong has been one of the Steady Eddies of Chinatown, renowned for its excellent Cantonese dishes, and with some delightful seafood fare, diners will also find plenty beyond the standard offerings to tickle their taste buds. There's nothing elaborate about the surroundings, which are rather on the functional side, but the standard of cooking is commendable and some of the more conventional dishes are particularly good.

Lettuce wrapped with minced mixed seafood, jelly fish and deep-fried crab claws makes a particularly memorable debut, closely followed by chef's specials like deep-fried crispy Mongolian lamb, baked pork chops with onions and chilli bean sauce, and sautéed sliced duck with fresh mango and asparagus. The menu also aids the indecisive with its fixed price set options for up to eight people.

At the end of your meal you may feel that tea would be your preferred tipple, although there is Cointreau and Jack Daniel's.
