Garth and Jana Bedford, owners of Mulberry's Restaurant and Grill, are on a mission to provide Yeovil residents some interesting food at good value and personalised service. Steaks predominate with South African specialities adding an exotic touch to the menu. The peaceful ambience is accentuated with the warm lights juxtaposed with appealing artwork, while the exposed brick walls and wooden furniture exemplify the earthy feel.

The menus are designed around seasonal produce and expect to find starters of smoked salmon on a bed of warm new potatoes and grilled beef 'boerewors', a spicy South African farmer's sausage served with salad and chutney. For the main course, 4 oz slimmers sirloin, rib-eye, T-bone, rump and fillet steak arrive sizzling hot from the grill. Guests can also choose between beef bobotie, curried mince meat served with yellow rice; butternut, sage and goat's cheese lasagna; smoked fillet of haddock on herb mash and pan fried lemon grass and ginger crab cake.

Round off your meal with malva pudding, raspberry crème brûlée or a smooth chocolate and orange torte, accompanied by a range of coffees, dessert wines or ports. Complement it with a pick from the 15 different wines, by the glass, or over 20 by the bottle. An emphasis on wines from little-known but incredible producers offers your money's worth. Most of them have been created by small growers who cultivate the vines, pick the grapes, and help to transform grape juice into an expression of place and time captured in a single wine.
