Nando's - Sheffield Description
From South Africa to Ealing to Crawley, Nando's has taken the traditional peri-peri flame-grilled chicken on a fantastic journey, all the while maintaining its proposition of good food in a relaxed atmosphere.
In typical style, the restaurant walls are decked with eclectic African art and the furniture is earthy, setting the tone for a date with some special cuisine.
The menu covers red pepper dip with warm pita bread, their famous whole peri-peri chicken and double chicken breast fillet burger. If one dares to be different and veer off the beaten track, the pergo steak roll beef, steak marinated in garlic, basted with peri-peri and flame-grilled to order offers a good option. Naughty natas and coconut tart are two irresistible desserts that cool you down after a hot meal. The wine list offers a good choice of Portuguese and South African wines.

Maybe I just don't like chicken very much, but Nando's seems to be built on an identity crisis, it's neither posh nor cheap, and doesn't offer anything particularly fascinating or idiosyncratic. Yet it's still very popular, and a good laugh if you go with lots of people. Not serving spirits is a little bit of a no-no for me as I like an occasional Bacardi with a Spanish or Cajun or Tex-Mex meal, whichever Nando's wants itself to be I don't really know but its okay for a meal. Not superb but then good and reliable. I found the one in Manchester's Deansgate near the metropolitan university a lot nicer than the one in Sheffield centre in terms of atmosphere and décor, it seemed more intimate and clean. But if you like your chicken and fries in a posh bun then Nando's is your place.

Nando’s is like "KFC for Posh People"! It's great for lunch or a casual evening meal - not really the sort of place you'd go for a special occasion! Think Wagamama or Pizza Hut with chicken.
The food is tasty, service is usually pretty fast and the prices are cheap. The Sheffield Nando’s is a nicer environment than some of the others I have been to. Because of the open kitchen, some outlets can get a bit warm and "greasy", but this one seems to have its AirCon under control.
