If you're in the border town of Oswestry and in search of a peaceful place where you can relax over great beers, real ale, wines and tasty British and French cuisine, navigate your way to Maesbury Marsh, where you will find a stone, brick and slate building situated on the banks of the Montgomery Canal.

This historic refuge is the Navigation Inn, a friendly village pub that offers guests home-cooked food and an opportunity to unwind with friends or the entire family. You will be pleased to know that The Navvy does not have any signs on the door saying 'no dogs' and 'no muddy boots'.

Owners Brent Ellis and Mark Baggett, together with their kitchen team and two German Shepherds, welcome guests into the dining room that was originally a warehouse and still sports thick wooden timbers and stone and brick walls.

Fresh local ingredients are used to create regularly changing dishes that range from slow-roasted Jamie Ward belly pork with black pudding and balsamic, to battered fish with crushed peas, hand-cut chips and tartare sauce, and bread and butter pudding with custard.
