New World Description
New World has a seating capacity of up to six hundred, but its popularity is such that you'll probably still have to wait a little while before getting a table. Arrive before six in the evening and you can simply choose dishes from the various dim sum trolleys that are wheeled around the restaurant; this what the restaurant is most famed for, the ladies will help explain about what the various choices are, which they put together with great skill, combining fresh ingredients in front of you. After six New World operates on a traditional menu system with a huge choice of dishes that's assured to satisfy even the fussiest eater.

Your Reviews of New World
Kim (11 February 2008)
On Chinese New Year Day in 2007, I was introduced to this restaurant by a Chinese friend. The service and food was good. I went again in the year with another Chinese friend and retained my first impression.
However, on Chinese New Year Day 2008, I went with a group of non-Chinese friends whom I had recommended this restaurant to and it was very embarrassing. The waiters ignored us, it took forever to get a bowl of steamed rice. I had to demand for it in a loud voice and one waiter was even downright rude. The other waiters who had observed this, looked shocked, but tried to excuse his behaviour. I understand that as it was Chinese New Year it was a busy day, but this is no reason to be rude to paying customers. Our complaint about his behaviour was not taken seriously.

My friend and I went to New World for Dim Sum during the week. The restaurant has a typical Chinese decor. The ladies with the trolleys are very friendly and helpful.
Quality of the Dim Sum is generally good. However, there isn't much of a selection compared to another Chinese restaurant in Chinatown, which I eat in every week.
Not many restaurants like New World offer a push-trolley service and coming from Singapore, I would say it is of a very similar style of service compared to back home. Generally authentic.
It will be quite an eye opener for someone who has never been to a typical Chinese restaurant.
