Newtons Description

Located on Abbeville Road, Newtons is an archetypal neighbourhood restaurant offering inventive modern British cuisine with a hint of the Oriental. A warm fireplace greets diners in winter, and French doors open out onto the terrace for al fresco dining on a balmy summer afternoon.

Starters include delights such as warm salad of chicken livers with new potato and leaves, honey and balsamic dressing; butternut, sage and goats' cheese risotto, and lamb kofta with tzaziki and flat bread. Main courses range from Donald Russell rib eye steak with green peppercorn sauce, rocket and chips, and Thai green chicken curry to sea bream with sautéed potatoes, green beans and tomato with balsamic glaze.

The lounge bar is open daily from noon to late serving coffee, cakes, snacks, and cocktails. Settle down on one of their cosy sofas with today's papers, for a great start or finish to your evening.

Friendly and fun are the best way to describe the welcome you will receive at Newtons. The food is not bad either. We started with char-grilled English asparagus and crispy duck, cucumber and spring onion salad with Hoisin. We followed that with the Scottish rib eye steak with rocket, chips and peppercorn sauce, and the Thai green chicken curry. Both dishes were fantastic. The menu offers a short selection of freshly prepared seasonal dishes, with lots of fresh fish and lighter offerings. Desserts are not to be missed - chocolate and raspberry mousse cake, Eton mess and fresh mango cheesecake. An interesting, reasonably priced wine list - what more can I say? I suggest you go there soon.
