Nicks Restaurant Description
Local lad Nicholas Cullen's culinary skills come to the fore again. Having worked in several restaurants around the Bolton area, year 2001 marked the opening of his own restaurant, Nicks and there has been no looking back ever since. The interior has plenty of character and they have certainly developed a loyal client base who love heading to this corner of Chorley Old Road for an intimate meal or a celebration with the family.
The cooking relies on what is local and skilfully combines seemingly contrasting ingredients like prawn and pineapple platter with Marie Rose sauce, and tandoori chicken strips with minted yogurt. Steaks are a speciality with several versions of them appearing in the main course selection - peppered Scotch fillet, Italian style Scotch sirloin, fillet steak bordelaise, or sirloin steak chasseur - all arrive sizzling hot with interesting accompaniments.
Finish with an indulgent banoffee brandy snap basket filled with bananas, toffee ice cream, fresh cream, toffee sauce and nuts.
Fixed Dinner
- £17.50 (2 courses) to £21.50 (3 courses), Wed - Fri & Sun, pre 7 pm

We have dined there on two previous occasions. The first time I wasn't too impressed and thought the sauces served with the main course were a little overpowering, although the meat, fish and the accompanying vegetables were good. On the next occasion we were very pleased and had an excellent meal - top marks for all three courses. There is a huge choice, which many small restaurants would not cope with but everything which came out of the kitchen was of the same high standard. It's expensive to eat there but worth every penny - an excellent meal and a good atmosphere to set it off. All in all, it was a very enjoyable experience.

Nicks is a family favourite. I have dined there many times and also booked champagne, by credit card, to grace the table for my parent’s anniversary meals. It is essential to reserve your table early as Nick is a popular chef. The meals are high on quality and excellently presented. The restaurant is cosy and service exemplary. Nick always makes an appearance - usually when I am sipping his trademark liqueur coffees which replace puddings for me.
