No 3 York Place
3 York Place, Leeds, LS1 2DR
Formerly known to many under another name No 3 York Place has taken on a new role in life and is creating a pleasant stir in the city of Leeds, a place that is also renewing itself. The young, but obviously going places, Head chef, Martel Smith is producing dishes that please and show great promise. Amongst the starters on the a la carte expect to find cream of cauliflower soup with a Yorkshire Blue cheese sabayon, warm salad of pan-fried lemon sole fillets and pickled vegetables, or ballotine of foie gras with rhubarb compote and ginger brioche. Main courses in particular display great flair, particularly when offering a new approach to well-loved dishes, witness the belly pork braised in honey and five spice, with roast sea scallop and black pudding, or the baked fillet of cod with a soft mushroom crust, buttered spinach and black noodles.Formerly known to many under another name No 3 York Place has taken on a new role in life and is creating a pleasant stir in the city of Leeds, a place that is also renewing itself.

Hot pistachio soufflé with chocolate sauce and pistachio ice cream is a reasonable conclusion to any meal, and just in case you disagree an assiette of deserts is available, perhaps to prove that I was right.
The wine list could well provide a ruinous end to the evening unless you are very firm with yourself and the sommelier. Or you could let his knowledge and your instincts form a happy alliance and worry about the ruin some other time. The choice is yours.

REVIEWS OF No 3 York Place
Julie Hopps (7 January 2009)
We went for our work Christmas meal at No 3 - having heard of it but never eaten there I was expecting something special. I thought it would be more stuffy than it was but we felt at eased and relaxed. The menu was quite varied and we managed to please even the fussy eaters. I had the pig’s trotter and partridge but will return again for the salmon as I couldn’t decide between the two. We were told in January there is a special offer on for four people to dine on three courses with a bottle of wine for £12.50 per head - a perfect opportunity to return and take some friends. No 3 really is a Leeds gem - its refreshing to go somewhere with a soul unlike many of the chain eateries that crowd the Leeds scene.

This is a fantastic place with great food and great service, perfect for a business meal as they are very discreet and professional. A romantic meal can also be perfect there as they are also very friendly and attentive, and it is amazing value for money. They have three courses for £18.00, and you just can’t beat that.
