No.5 North Street
5 North Street, Winchcombe, GL54 5LH
The pretty Cotswold town of Winchcombe is home to No.5 North Street, Kate and Marcus Ashenford's warm and rustic modern European restaurant. The beauty of the perfectly formed three AA rosette dining venue lies in its simplicity, most visible in its half-timbered exterior, and once you enter, in its interior of dark red walls, beamed ceilings and well-spaced bare tables and brown leather chairs. It is clear that Michelin starred Chef Marcus' focus lies in giving the people of Winchcombe an opportunity to sample beautifully created dishes that are all cooked to very high standards. You could begin your journey with a starter of smoked haddock and cauliflower puree with baby spinach, poached egg, and a cheese and caraway sable before moving on to a main course of monkfish with sweet-and-sour chicken wings, baby fennel and five-spice reduction. The pretty Cotswold town of Winchcombe is home to No.5 North Street, Kate and Marcus Ashenford's warm and rustic modern European restaurant. REVIEWS OF No.5 North Street
S Summers (11 October 2010)
I can't believe we missed this wonderful restaurant and have been traipsing round the county in search of fine dining when it was there on the doorstep all along. Despite our arriving embarrassingly early, the welcome was warm and the food was wonderful. My starter of brill was perfect - tasty, succulent and just yummy! Even my husband who is definitely not one to choose fish loved it. We all had the lamb for a main course and it was superb. As for pudding, well, the salted caramel with malted vanilla ice cream, passion fruit sauce and beetroot tuile was heavenly. What a find!

I have eaten there twice recently, and both times the experience was exceptional. With it being small and well run, you have the added bonus of feeling extremely well looked after, with no stuffiness. Having also eaten recently in a very highly rated Cotswold establishment, in my opinion there was no comparison, and this restaurant can easily run with the best. Looking forward to my next outing, and that would be soon, to treat a very dear friend, who is visiting from over the pond. She would not be disappointed.
