Nobles Restaurant
17 High Street, Battle, TN33 0AE
The elegant Nobles Restaurant is situated in the small market town of Battle, and owner and Chef Paul Noble delights in serving simple, classic fare from a seasonal menu. The beautifully renovated dining rooms have comfortable locally made chairs, delicate table linen and sparkling cutlery. Amongst their well-presented dishes, a risotto of Wealdway ash goats' cheese and Noble's garden herbs provides a flavoursome start. Chargrilled sirloin of Romney Marsh beef, seared mackerel fillets with green beans, anchovies and pickle, or roast wood pigeon, rösti potato and wild mushrooms, could follow. The carefully chosen wines go well with the food. A range of desserts that might include sticky toffee pudding or bitter chocolate tart is always available. The elegant Nobles Restaurant is situated in the small market town of Battle, and owner and Chef Paul Noble delights in serving simple, classic fare from a seasonal menu. Local produce from farms and markets in and around the historic town of Battle is used wherever possible. Noble's afternoon menu with fresh sandwiches, homemade cakes, scones and pots of tea is also popular with the customers.

REVIEWS OF Nobles Restaurant
Steve H (19 November 2008)
We dined there on Monday, and it was quite simply the best. From the welcome to the goodbye, this was an outstanding experience. The waitress could not have been more polite, helpful or efficient; truly first class and all on her own with at least seven other tables to look after. The food was extraordinarily good, even food that we wouldn't normally like, was eaten with delight. I cannot speak more highly of this place. My advice, go there and experience it for yourself.

My husband and I have dined at Nobles three or four times. Initially, I felt a little disappointed with the size of the menu. However, on sampling from the menu, I totally retract that statement. The food is, quite simply, fabulous. The décor is chic, yet simple, with stunning artwork backed up a limited, but perfectly executed menu. The members of staff are quick, attentive and approachable. Quite contrary to a previous reviewer who had an unfortunate experience. The puddings are divine and they managed to cater to my eight year old daughter, who probably has the most bland palate on the planet - a testament to the chef's skill in itself.
My only criticism is the automatic inclusion of a service charge on the bill. That really annoyed me, and quite honestly the staff lost the money because had it not been for the automatic charge, our tip would have been larger. I am a believer though that 'tips' are voluntary. If more money is required, increase the price of the fare; don't add an extra, it takes away from what is otherwise a superb experience.
