Dubbed by some as the baby sister to Noor Jahan in Kensington, this Sussex Place restaurant has proved to be as popular as its sibling. Yellow walls offset by dark blue furnishings and bright lighting may be a rather intriguing contrast of sorts, but overall makes for an elegant setting to enjoy a relaxed meal.

The menu is predominantly North Indian and you could choose from a wide selection of vegetarian, meat and tandoori dishes. Starters of onion bhaji, king prawn puri and barbecued fillets of minced lamb grace the carte, followed by chef's specialities of duck tikka karahi cooked with chopped onions, sliced ginger and capsicum, and the yogurt based lamb pasanda. If the orange red colour of fish curry is visually appealing, then look to Goa for inspiration; this popular tourist state in India is where this tangy dish originated, and spoonfuls of this tasty curry prepared with coconut and red chillies makes a perfect accompaniment to steamed basmati rice.
