North Pole Piano Restaurant

131 Greenwich High Road, London, SE10 8JA

An established fine dining restaurant, now based in Greenwich, arguably one of the best in the area. Head chef Rick Munn, formerly of the Savoy, has brought the restaurant into a new dimension with his latest menus. It is highly praised in most major food guides and listed in the Michelin guide too. The recent addition of a grand piano as well as a major refurbishment has brought the restaurant a new found success, especially amongst the locals, and bookings of up to two weeks in advance are having to be made.

REVIEWS OF North Pole Piano Restaurant

Giles (7 July 2007)

We had an excellent dinner in Greenwich. I took both my parents and my partner for a three course meal on Saturday night. The food was excellent, and the service attentive. In fact we are already planning a return visit. My dad stated it was his best duck ever, and we could only but agree with the standard of our crème brûlée for desserts. A great food treat. The only niggle would be the piano in the background, was playing at times too loud to have a relaxed chat. But thanks for a great meal.

Clare Seymour (19 September 2005)

We visited this restaurant on Sunday 18 September 2005 for a family celebration lunch (6 of us, pre-booked). When we arrived there were 3 other tables occupied. The food was generally very good (although some time after ordering, we were told that the paw paw advertised in one of the starters was not available). However, the whole experience was marred by the inordinate amount of time it took for the food to appear. The starters took over an hour to arrive, with the explanation from the waitress that 'there is a problem in the kitchen, but it is not a problem'. In all, it took nearly 2 and a half hours to complete 2 courses and we could not face waiting for desserts. Paying the bill took 15 minutes and when we commented on the delays, the maitre d' blamed the waitress, even though we emphasised the fact that she should not be held responsible for problems in the kitchen. They did not seek to charge the 'optional' 12.5% service charge, which was just as well as we would not have paid it. When we left, there were 5 tables occupied, so it was by no means a busy day.
