Obsidian Bar & Restaurant Description
Best Newcomer at the 2004 Manchester Food and Drink Festival awards, Obsidian has cemented its reputation since then as one of the city's premier bar restaurants. Reached by a dramatic marble staircase, Obsidian occupies a stunning modern space situated below the Arora International Hotel on Princess Street.
Their much-acclaimed food is prepared under the direction of head chef Adrian Bailey, who has created a menu that's a far cry from anything else on offer in the city including exclusive dishes unavailable anywhere else in the UK such as the lightly cured Taxal Cheshire lamb. The menu's North West identity is influenced by international flavours reflecting the proximity of Rusholme and Chinatown, creating what they refer to as 'The Taste of Modern Manchester'.

Your Reviews of Obsidian Bar & Restaurant
Paul C (26 August 2008)
I booked a table online for Saturday for 6.45pm, which was the only slot available. After reading a bit about the restaurant I was looking forward to the visit. On arrival it was a pleasant restaurant with tasteful décor but the air conditioning had the restaurant feeling like a chiller cabinet. The service was good and informative on the wine list; however, we had to remind the waiter regarding the bread ordered. Main course was good but not an amazing rump of lamb and chicken breast risotto. Portion sizes were adequate but not what I'd call value for money. The raspberry cheesecake for dessert would have to be one of the finest cheesecakes I've ever tasted, absolutely superb. I had some sumptuous cocktails at the bar post meal. It’s a restaurant that has maybe lost pace with the competition.

I have been there a few times and it is always amazing. The latest cocktail menu is out of the world. I wish they do not change the staff so often. The grapest G&T cocktail is the best and I would like to thank its creator Alex because it’s now a part of my life. Thanks again guys, you’re the best.
