Ochis Restaurant
30-32 Bongate, Darlington, DL3 7JJ
Named after the picturesque Ocho Rio's region of Jamaica, Ochis at Darlington is considered to be 'the destination' for Caribbean and Mediterranean cuisine in town. Just right to relax on a weekend or unwind after a long day's work, it has a laid back atmosphere that can easily be credited to its simple yet culturally enthused interior that is highlighted by cane furnishing and painted murals illustrating a beach. The menu is worth leafing though as the variety is overwhelming, starting with appetizers such as crab cakes and calypso wraps, strips of smoked chicken cooked in rum and brown sugar, rolled in a tortilla, and laced with mushroom fricassee. No respectable Caribbean restaurant, including Ochis, fails to embrace ackee and saltfish in its menu - the national dish of Jamaica made from a tropical fruit cooked with lemon, cod and served with rice and vegetables.Named after the picturesque Ocho Rio's region of Jamaica, Ochis at Darlington is considered to be 'the destination' for Caribbean and Mediterranean cuisine in town. If you could squeeze in a slice of rum cake topped with ice cream or a vanilla and toffee honeypot, it would make for a fine conclusion to your meal.

My daughter and I first went to Ochis for lunch, and were blown away by the wonderful food - this was our first experience of Caribbean food. It also has a great relaxed atmosphere. Absolutely yummy!
