Old Bakery Restaurant with Rooms, The

I booked the The Old Bakery for three nights for myself and two friends. We were quickly shown our rooms - modern, light and very comfortable - including the homemade biscuits. Breakfast was exceptional - a full Lincolnshire breakfast served with a smile. We ate at the restaurant twice and would have made it three times had this been possible. There was a great choice of locally produced food, which tasted sublime. I would have returned just for the cheeseboard alone - a choice of forty-eight. However, even though the food was excellent, what made the nights even more memorable was the hospitality from the host and staff. They were attentive but not intrusive, always smiling in spite of the fact that we were the last to leave on both nights. All in all, this is a gem of a place that I was glad to find. I will definitely return.

I had a really nice meal at The Old Bakery Restaurant. The building has enormous character, and we found the staff welcoming and helpful. The ethos is for best quality local produce, right down to the tasty bread being baked on the premises using flour from a windmill some hundred yards away. The menu was innovative bordering on the exotic and we enjoyed ostrich steaks followed by local pork, which were both excellent, and so was the crème brulee. The wine list was good and well described with a reasonably priced dessert wine choice. We stayed at the bed and breakfast in a newly decorated en suite room. Breakfast the next morning was sourced and cooked to the same high standard as dinner the night before. Overall, it was a pleasant meal with excellent food. The owner and his family were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. I'd recommend the Old Bakery for eating and accommodation - it isn't the cheapest venue, but the quality makes it good value.
