Old House, The Description
Located in a very traditional looking building, convenient for Gatwick Airport, the attention to food here is commendable. A three-course meal at £31 might consist of oak smoked salmon served with a new potato and spring onion salad with lemon mayonnaise followed by pan-roasted chump of lamb. To follow it would have to be spotted dick with clotted cream and toffee sauce. The wine list is well travelled and it's good to see English wines there with the rest. House wines at £15.95.

We ate at The Old House Restaurant on a Tuesday evening. The country surroundings are pleasant and there is a large car park. We received a warm welcome at the door and aperitifs were served in the lounge whilst we perused the menu. You can mix and match by course from the table d'hote and ‘Burstow menu’, which we did and their selection of wines by the glass was good. The restaurant area is pleasant with good sized tables and plenty of space. The food was top class – crab and mushrooms for starters, and steak pie and salmon for mains. It was well cooked, excellently presented and portions were just the right size. The service was good and so were the desserts and coffee. We recommend this place.
